Once there was a snowman, snowman, snowman...

... once there was a snowman tall, tall, TALL! In the sun he melted, melted, melted, in the sun he melted small, small, small.

Hi guys! Guess where Atticus and I are going this Wednesday? No, you guessed wrong. We're going to CALIFORNIA! To visit Grandma Melody and Grandpa Pete! As I began to pack, I checked out the weather reports for Yuba City and Sugar City. Here in Idaho on Wednesday, the high is 46 with thunderstorms and a chance of snow. For California the report says it'll be 78 and sunny. The remainder of the week is similar. A part of me wants to say "Sucker!!" to everyone I'm leaving behind in Idaho for a week, but it's going to be just as cold when I come back. So I'll refrain.

I'll be sure to take pictures and give you all a nice big post when we get back! Love you all! We can't wait to see you Mom, Dad, Chris, Lorna, Kayla, Ian, baby boy fetus!

Saturday!

On Saturday, Trevor had a scout hike, so Atticus and I decided to go up to Mesa Falls by ourselves! It was a beautiful drive that made me EVEN MORE excited to leave for California on the 30th!

BEAUTIFUL!

We love you guys!

Atticus stats and The Fair!!

We just took Atticus in for his 4 month check up! Remember how at his 2 month check up I called him Atticus the giant? Well, that was small beans compared to his size at this check up.

He's 27.5 inches tall, which puts him in the 99th percentile for height. He's 16.4 lbs (80%) and his head is 17.5 inches around (95%). I always knew he'd have big brains :) I just didn't realize the rest of him would be so huge!!

As for his immunizations, apparently Idaho is running low on doses? I guess the advertisements are more effective than they planned (the ones about the dog having all his shots, but not the kids). Anyway, we're supposed to call back in a week to see if the doc has been able to get his hands on some. I can't pretend that I wasn't relieved to be able to put it off for a week.

Atticus at the fair with two turkeys

Remember last week when we went to the fair? No? Well, that's because we were too busy having a BLAST for me to blog about it. We visited all the animals, but we only got pictures with the birds (once again, I forgot we had the camera...) Here is a picture of a ridiculous looking chicken.

I always love looking at the local arts and crafts, and there were some great cake decorators this year!

I know you're also wondering about the food. Well, let me tell you, I kicked my post-baby diet so hard out the window, it didn't find it's way back to me until Monday morning. As a couple, we ate a total of a foot long corn dog, a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, a pile of tortadoes the size of Trevor's head, two lemonade slushies (one was raspberry lemonade), and a chunk of chocolate dipped frozen cheesecake. And I mean a CHUNK. Oh, and we also brought home a bag of cotton candy, but I doubt it's going to get eaten... it just tastes weird away from the fair. I sadly did not get any cinnamon glazed almonds (mmm.... favorite.)

What was your first family meal?

I was looking at Peter and Leigh-Ann's blog, and I saw THIS:

I thought it was really cute. And then I remembered that I took a picture of our first family meal too, and I wondered if anyone else took pictures of or even remembers their first family meal as a married couple. If you do, leave a comment or post a blog about it! I would love to hear about it!

Our first Sit-down-at-a-table family meal: Cheddar Broccoli Soup, with a crusty baguette (off screen) and Martinelli's. We were in Canada (Victoria) on our honeymoon, and we walked 10 or so blocks to a little grocery store where I bought way too much broccoli (I'd never made the soup before), a little tube of flour (I still have the empty tube), and got lost looking for the cheese. We also bought some Nanaimo bars. Here's the evidence:

What sophistication! :) Seriously, I'm interested in what your first married-couple meal was, if you remember it!

My Mountain Men

Yesterday, for Labor Day, Trevor, Atticus, Blake and I went up in the mountains for the day. We hiked, picnicked, and climbed on some rocks. It was a pretty fantastic day! We were going to come home and roast hotdogs over a fire, but we were pooped (Atticus literally), so maybe we'll do that tonight and get pictures up tomorrow.

Trevor with his awesome binoculars

Aren't they cute?

That sweatshirt must have been delicious.

I know Blake dominates this picture, but the cave behind him was really cool! We couldn't get down there, but it looked like it went through the rock, and then back into the mountain.

If you click on the picture and look really closely, you'll see an antelope. It was really close to the truck when we stopped, and Trevor got SO excited! Then he enlightened me about antelopes. Did you know that both males and females have horns? Now you do.

Our delicious picnick: Dry salame, smoked gouda and triscuits (and chocolate pudding)

A cow rock.

There was a peak in between these two pictures that Trevor got to the top of (I... didn't. I got about halfway.) He took a picture when he got to the top, but somewhere between the top and our computer it dissapeared. I bet you can imagine though.

And here is our cute boy enjoying some delicious rice cereal! Isn't he adorable? The kid sure loves it.

The Resemblance is Uncanny.

Coincidence? Maybe... maybe not.
